What will I learn?


Unit 1: Enterprise in the Business World


Learners will explore key introductory business theory, whilst using their own creativity and entrepreneurial skills to apply that theory to their own business idea. The unit content is designed to inform and inspire learners to develop their own realistic business models and demonstrate them in the form of an internal assessment


Unit 2: Finance for Business


Learners are prepared with the financial principles that underpin successful businesses. They are introduced to types of costs businesses incur and how revenue is generated. Learners will look at financial planning tools and statements. Using these they will be able to make recommendations on business issues. This unit takes the form of an online test which will count towards 25% of their BTEC qualification.


Unit 4: Principles of customer service


Learners will find out why it is important to ensure that effective customer service is delivered within an organisation. The will consider the importance of customer service and how it can help a business gain a competitive advantage. Learners will be encouraged to think of current customer service roles and provide solutions to everyday problems in their internal assessment.

Unit 8: Recruitment, Selection and Employment


Learners will be introduced to a variety of job roles that exist within businesses and the various functions that are performed by individual roles, as well as the types of organisational structures used in businesses. They will be given the opportunity to compete important documentation for job roles and will also have the opportunity to complete an application and interview for a job.
What sort of homework will I be set?
You will complete business-related assignments as well as working on coursework tasks set by individual teachers.


What Coursework will I need to do?


3 of the 4 units are coursework-based (Unit 2 is examined in an online test). You will complete these throughout the course.


How will my work be assessed?


Unit 1, 3, 8 - Coursework units based on given assignments
Unit 2 – Externally examined via a 1 hour online exam


What Qualification will I gain?


Equivalent of 1 GCSE – Distinction*=A*, Distinction=A, Merit=B, Pass=C
