A warm welcome to Goffs! We are a comprehensive, mixed 11-18 school with approximately 1300 students on roll, including a thriving and successful Sixth Form. Our school has always been extremely popular in the area, with an average of over 650 applications annually for the 210 places available, and significant waiting lists for places.
Our firm belief is that successful learning takes place when students feel safe, confident, respected and valued, and are engaged. As such, the school operates extremely high expectations of behaviour, placing great emphasis on pastoral care and very close links with parents. We were delighted to see Ofsted’s comments that “students’ behaviour and attitudes are outstanding” and that “students feel very safe, because bullying is extremely rare and they are very confident that any incidents that concern them will be dealt with swiftly and effectively.”
Goffs prides itself on and is recognised for its sense of community – both within the school itself, and in the wider locality. Our students actively support local charity work such as the Isabel Hospice, and maintain strong links with our local primary schools. Each year group has a charity that is supported via a variety of events throughout the school year.
The Goffs Student Leadership Academy actively encourages leadership development through a series of student led groups, with groups currently including charitable events/activities, a student newsletter, and Digital Leaders driving forward the school’s commitment to using technology to enhance learning.
Our focused strategy for continuous school improvement has had huge success and we are actively committed to ensuring that our Goffs continues as a centre of excellence in the community. Exam results in 2014 were another year of huge success for us. This success is reflected in our latest Ofsted report in October 2012, where both behaviour and leadership were graded as outstanding and where, very unusually, Ofsted noted only one priority area for development,
In addition, our school was among those recently named as part of a £2billion Government scheme, the Priority Schools Building Programme. As a result, Goffs will be transformed by a completely new build and enjoy new state-of-the-art facilities, due for completion in summer 2016. This significant investment of funds by the Department for Education is a further recognition of the outstanding work being undertaken by the school, and represents another fantastic opportunity for us all.
Our school is a happy and caring community, staffed by a team of highly committed teachers and support staff, working in partnership with Governors and parents to provide the best possible education. The website will give you a flavor of our school and community. You are also warmly encouraged to visit and to see first-hand what makes us such a popular and successful school. We look forward to meeting you.
